The speed limit for cars with trailers and caravans is increased in Norway

Since 11 March, caravans and cars with unbraked trailers are allowed to drive faster in Norway. The maximum speed has been set at 80 km/h, and even 100 km/h for some cars with trailers and caravans. Previously, a maximum speed of 60 km/h applied to most camping vehicles.

Especially for camping tourists, this change brings advantages. The speed limits are now more in line with Norway's neighbouring countries and thus easier to understand. Norway's Minister of Transport, Jon-Ivar Nygård, says: "Higher permitted speeds this time are also good for road safety, because smaller speed differences can contribute to fewer dangerous overtaking manoeuvres and rear-end collisions."
