During this April, tourists are permitted to catch king crabs

Catching king crabs is generally not allowed in Norway during April. In order to further boost tourism in the north of the country after the corona pandemic, the Ministry of Trade and Industry now grants an exemption for tourist fishing companies. However, the catch is limited to 0.6 tonnes.

Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs Bjørnar Skjæran explains the decision as follows: "After a few challenging years with very low tourist activity due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is important to facilitate activity in the north. The business community and tourist fishing companies have the capacity and need to continue their business in April, and the government wants to contribute to this."
