Tampere asserts itself as the most attractive city in Finland

According to a recent survey, Tampere is the most attractive city in Finland. Almost two-fifths of respondents could imagine living there.

The second most popular city was Helsinki, where one in three Finns could imagine living. Turku came in third place, with just under a third of respondents who could imagine living there.

The attractiveness of all three cities has increased by two percentage points compared to the 2022 survey. The top three remained unchanged compared to then.

Espoo, the fourth most popular city, recorded an increase in attractiveness of three percentage points, the highest increase compared to the previous survey.

Jyväskylä, Hämeenlinna, Kuopio, Porvoo, Vantaa and Oulu also made it into the top ten cities.

Pirkanmaa at the top

In terms of regions, Uusimaa was the most popular choice, with almost half of respondents saying they could imagine living there.

The next most popular regions were Pirkanmaa and Varsinais-Suomi. The latter in particular has gained in popularity, but Uusimaa and Pirkanmaa are also attracting more people than before. In addition, around a fifth of respondents could imagine living in Lapland, Central Finland or Kanta-Häme. The survey on willingness to move within Finland was conducted by Taloustutkimus at the end of last year. Around 3700 Finns aged between 15 and 79 took part in the survey. The margin of error of the study is a maximum of 1.8 percentage points in both directions.
