Finland records increase in foreign tourists in June

Increasing overnight stays in Finland compared to the previous year

According to Statistics Finland, a total of 2.24 million overnight stays were recorded in Finland in June 2023. Of these, around 1.78 million overnight stays were accounted for by domestic tourists. The total number of overnight stays increased by three per cent compared to the previous year.

The number of overnight stays by domestic tourists remained at approximately the same level as in June 2022. The number of overnight stays by foreign tourists was 17 per cent higher. More than half of these overnight stays were recorded in Uusimaa. There, the number increased by 22 per cent.

The main countries of origin of foreign tourists were Germany, Sweden and the United States.

Hotel room occupancy was 56 per cent, two percentage points higher than in June 2022. The average price for a hotel room was EUR 118, up from EUR 115 a year earlier.
