SAS and pilots reach agreement and end strike
After days of heavy negotiations, the airline SAS and the pilots' unions finally agreed on new collective agreements. The two-week strike was ended and SAS can resume regular flight operations. Minor disruptions cannot be ruled out in the next few days.
Due to the massive layoffs during the pandemic, the approximately 900 remaining pilots from Denmark, Norway and Sweden had gone on strike 15 days ago. The unions accused the airline operator of dismissing pilots with an agreed right to reinstatement without implementing the right correctly.
During the strike, about 3700 flights had to be cancelled, affecting around 370,000 passengers.
The new collective agreement is valid for five years and currently awaits signature of the unions.
