Comfort Hotel Solna in Stockholm to be the first zero-energy hotel in Scandinavia

On June 1, the hotel of the Nordic Choice hotel chain opened its doors to the first guests. Because of its low energy consumption and solar cells on the roof and facade, the hotel generates more energy than it consumes. The building is designed to produce the amount of energy that would enable a Tesla to circle the earth 57 times.

Nothing was left to chance in the construction. Both the size and placement of the windows were carefully thought out, and solar panels were installed on the sun-facing side of the facade and on the entire roof. The lifts recharge automatically on descent so that the it does not consume any additional electricity, and the heating and cooling processes are based on heat pumps from a specially developed geothermal system, the Borehole Thermal Energy Storage (BTES). This system allows excess energy to be stored.

The hotel has 336 hotel rooms, but also offers a number of flats and serves as the new headquarters of the Swedish branch of Nordic Choice. It is located right next to the Friends Arena in Stockholm, not far from its sister hotel Quality Hotel Friends.
