NordicMarketing on the road in Sörmland, southern Sweden

This year NordicMarketing organised numerous FAM trips with its partners from Northern Europe. One of these popular information trips took us and 4 interested tour operators from Germany and Switzerland to the south of Sweden, to the region of Sörmland.

Gentle adventures in "Sweden's most accessible wilderness" 🌿🇸🇪

The Swedish province of Sörmland (Södermanland) is only a short distance from the capital Stockholm. Gripsholm Castle can be reached from Arlanda Airport in about 90 minutes (approx. 100 km). In addition, the region has its own airport in Nyköping, which is usually referred to internationally as Stockholm-Skavsta.
Whether as a combination trip with the capital or as a pure experience of the Swedish countryside - the destination offers the best conditions for a varied travel production. Sörmland lies south of the capital Stockholm, between Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea. A good 400 castles and manor houses - surrounded by parks, avenues and pastures - shape the character of the region.

In addition, the area scores with easily accessible, authentic nature experiences. It is not for nothing that the region is also called "Sweden's most accessible wilderness". The wide branches of Lake Mälaren, which connects Stockholm with the region of Sörmland, invite to versatile excursions and water activities. Thus, the tour operators explored the varied landscape in the Marvikarna nature reserve on gentle evening adventures. They paddled a canoe along the old waterways of the Vikings, took a leisurely hike through the late summer blueberry forest to an inviting vantage point and listened to the informative lectures of the local guides on the way - real outdoorsmen with knives on their belts and fire steels.
The organisers experienced a first-class culinary finale with a new interpretation of Swedish home cooking at the evening meal around the campfire. There, of course, the cook's coffee was not to be missed, which many of us rather associate with the breaks around the campfire in the north of the country.

The tour operators were treated to spectacular views and got a glimpse of Sörmland's rich wildlife. They were lucky enough to see an osprey, for example.

Swedish culture with all senses 🍰🇸🇪

The destination of Sörmland offers numerous cultural and natural experiences and offers both groups and individual travellers numerous opportunities to immerse themselves in Swedish history - either individually or guided by a local guide or a tour guide brought along.

Here you will find exciting facts and contexts, amusing anecdotes and interesting details on rune stones, in Sörmland's numerous castles, in the region's museums or even on the art fence recently created to mark Sweden's 500th anniversary, which in Mariefred offers a whole new medium for delving deep into Sweden's past.

A very special highlight awaited the participants at the end of the information trip and successfully linked the royal castle destination Sörmland with a special feature of Swedish culture - the famous fika tradition. We paid a visit to the Taxinge cake castle.
Never in their lives had the tour operators seen so many different kinds of cakes - because there are no less than 65 different variations waiting there every day to delight visitors with culinary delights.

A great end to a successful FAM trip to Sweden! 🇸🇪

The trip offered magnificent castles, idyllic small towns with red wooden houses and a royal fika break at Sweden's largest cake buffet.

FAM trips with NordicMarketing

The info trips with NordicMarketing are organised together with the partners and clients from Finland, Sweden or Norway. They are aimed exclusively at selected tour operators from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Holland or Belgium who already offer the Nordic countries in their product portfolio or would like to offer them in the future. For quality reasons, we deliberately keep the groups small.

For tour operators, the FAM trips offer numerous advantages. The destinations can be experienced directly on site and the products can be tested. These experiences offer a recognisable added value both in travel production and in sales. In addition, the info trip offers the valuable opportunity to establish or deepen personal contact with local suppliers.

The costs of the trip within the framework of the FAM trip are usually covered in full by the destinations. This includes not only the journey by air, but also the transfers on site, accommodation, meals, activities or sightseeing. The organisation of an info trip is a considerable investment for a destination. Therefore, certain requirements and criteria apply when selecting potential participants. These relate to the position or activity within the company as well as the specialisation or product portfolio of the organiser.
