Largest road construction project in northern Norway started

The E10 road in northern Norway is being upgraded. The E10 leads west from the main E6 road to Lofoten and Vesterålen.

The upgrade will improve road standards and shorten the E10 by about 30 kilometres. The journey time will also be reduced by about 40 minutes. Construction is expected to take 5.5 years. The project is scheduled for completion at the end of 2028. The costs amount to about NOK 11.4 billion.

82 kilometres of new road will be built in the project. 27 kilometres will lead through a total of seven tunnels. 22 bridges will be needed for the giant project. Meanwhile, 35 kilometres will be built in the current road alignment, while 20 kilometres will be laid in a new road alignment. The road construction also includes footpaths and cycle paths.
