Blue Lagoon in Iceland continues to operate after seismic activity

The Blue Lagoon and its many facilities, including the Blue Café, Lava and Moss restaurants, Retreat and Silica hotels, Retreat Spa and in-house store, officially resumed operations on Friday, February 16. The adjusted opening hours for the Blue Lagoon are from 08:00 to 21:00, with the last booking possible at 19:00.

Due to recent disruption on the main access road, visitors will need to take an alternative route. Visitors are advised to observe the speed limit on the narrow roads. The revised travel distance is approximately 80 km from Reykjavik and 40 km from Keflavik, and guests are asked to allow for the additional travel time. In addition, guests can book transfers through Destination Blue Lagoon.

The reopening is the result of working with local authorities to ensure ongoing safety, particularly in light of recent seismic and volcanic events. Guests are advised that the operating units are located in an area at risk of seismic activity, as indicated by the Icelandic Meteorological Office. Experts monitor the area continuously and real-time analysis of seismic activity is carried out around the clock.
