The Mökki represents an escape from everyday life and offers an opportunity to reflect on family values and the simplicity of life. It stands for a deep connection to nature and for the appreciation of silence, which plays a major role in Finnish culture. Our upcoming online event, MÖKKI 2024, offers tour operators the opportunity to connect with Finnish cottage providers and discover quality accommodation for clients.

The cultural significance of Mökkis in Finland 
In Finland, the mökki is more than just a holiday home - it is part of the national heritage and a symbol of relaxation and freedom. Many Finns grow up with the tradition of spending the summer months in these rural retreats, which are often passed down from generation to generation. The holiday home provider Hawkhill Cottage Resort (Helsinki region) is represented at our online sales workshop MÖKKI 2024 on 11 September and is located in the Helsinki region. The holiday homes are surrounded by Nuuksio National Park and offer a classic Finnish nature experience. In contrast, Nivunki Village (Lapland) offers unique glass igloos. These glass accommodations offer a breathtaking view of the Nordic nature and the magical Northern Lights.

Activities and Relaxation in a Mökki
Staying in a Mökki offers a variety of activities that Finnish nature has to offer. Hiking, fishing, swimming and boating are popular in the summer months and skiing and snowshoeing in the winter.
In addition, the sauna is a central part of the Mökki experience.Almost every Mökki has its own sauna where you can relax and experience the traditional Finnish sauna culture.

At our online sales workshop MÖKKI 2024 you can meet holiday home providers from Finland. On 11 September 2024, NordicMarketing will organise a virtual meeting between cottage operators from Finland and tour operators from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands and Belgium for the second time. We are pleased to organise MÖKKI 2024 this year in cooperation with Visit Finland. Together, we would like to enable tour operators to make new contacts with Finnish cottage providers.
