Dovrebanen between Oslo and Trondheim interrupted indefinitely

Storm "Hans" ravaged parts of Norway on 07 August. Due to heavy rainfall, the 170-metre railway bridge over the river Gudbrandsdalslågen near Ringebuwegen was washed out and collapsed. As a result, the Dovrebanen between Oslo and Trondheim is closed. The road bridge was spared.

Passenger and freight traffic are affected by the interruption. It is not yet clear whether one of the temporary bridges will be used as an emergency solution. There was further damage on the route due to flooding, for example between Moelv and Dombås.

Rørosbanen is currently used as an alternative route. SJ Nord is currently using Rørosbanen between Oslo and Trondheim. However, capacity is limited. For travellers, there are trains between Oslo and Lillehammer and buses from Lillehammer to Trondheim. Most of the diversion trains are goods trains with cargo up to Bodø.
