In Iceland, the Arctic Circle Award was presented on the occasion of the Arctic Circle Assembly

On 15 October, the Arctic Circle Prize was awarded in Iceland during the Arctic Circle Assembly. The Alfred Wegener Institute, which runs the Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) and the MOSAiC research expedition, was awarded.

The Alfred Wegener Institute in Germany is a pioneer in international Arctic research. With the research expedition "MOSAiC", it has coordinated and led an unprecedented project that is advancing Arctic research far and wide.

The Arctic Circle Assembly is one of the largest conferences in the world on the topic of the North. This year's event took place from 13 to 16 October at Harpa, the concert hall and conference centre of Reykjavik in Iceland.
