New Árböðin Lagoon promises unforgettable bathing fun

In a significant step towards enriching the tourism landscape, construction has begun on the new Árböðin Lagoon in Laugarás, Bláskógabyggð. A group of investors have dedicated themselves to a project that has been in the works for the last ten years and signals a significant development for the region.

The new lagoon will have hot and cold baths, a steam bath, relaxation areas and a restaurant. The bathing facility will be enjoyed by Icelanders and tourists alike.
Bláskógabyggð is an inland municipality in the south of Iceland, where the Golden Circle is located. The new lagoon will be located in Laugarás, about a 40-minute drive from Selfoss and close to the town of Flúðir.

Halldór Eiríksson, an architect at T.ark who designed the lagoon, emphasized the natural beauty of the site and highlighted the protection offered by the nearby river - the ideal place for swimming. Helgi Kjartansson, the mayor of Bláskógabyggð, also expressed enthusiasm for the project and expects positive results for the community.

The investment in Árböðin Lagoon is estimated at around ISK 2 billion and is expected to attract 150,000 to 200,000 visitors a year once the lagoon is operational in May next year.

The community is eagerly awaiting the completion of Árböðin and hopes for an increase in tourism and positive economic impact.
