Unfortunately a FAM trip to Oulu Region is currently not possible. To learn more about Syöte and Kalajoki, a Virtual FAM Trip will take place on 23 and 24 February 2021. Local companies and destinations introduce themselves and present online what to look forward to in Syöte and Kalajoki. Come with us on a virtual trip to the Oulu region!
Syöte in Finland is the perfect destination for families and nature lovers. Syöte, the southernmost fell area in Finland provides lapland-like scenery, attractive accommodation and a range of yearround activities in Syöte National Park.
Kalajoki with its long beach and sand dune area "Hiekkasärkät" is a compact holiday area in Northern Finland situated at the seaside of the Bothnian Bay, 1,5 h drive south of Oulu airport via Route 8. Kalajoki is ideal for guests who value pure and spectacular nature, are interested in traditions and history and appreciate also high-standard accommodation and services. There is a large variety of holiday villas, cottages and apartments and three hotels, one with a spa.
The aim of the virtual FAM trip is getting to know the destinations, products and services. Therefore, suppliers of the region present their products and services in pre-produced videos. The virtual FAM trip is realized on two days.
The virtual FAM trip is aimed at tour operators from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Belgium. Participation is free of charge. Of course also several colleagues of a company can participate in the virtual FAM trip.
To participate you only have to fill out the form below. The link to participate will be sent by mail before the virtual FAM trip, no software has to be downloaded. However, a good internet connection is required, as well as the possibility to play sound.
In addition to the video presentation of the regions, there will also be the opportunity to exchange ideas with local suppliers after each module. You as a tour operator can directly ask the providers any questions you may have. They are connected via video and are available to answer your questions.
Syöte Tourism Association was established in 2006 to increase collaboration between the companies in Syöte region. The association coordinates domestic and international marketing activities of the resort, events, regional development and collaboration with different stakeholders. The association also coordinates international media and tour operator visits to the area.

Syöte Visitor Centre is a handsome log castle by the gates of Syöte National Park. At the temporary exhibition, you can sense the presence of history and hear the whispering spruces. Poro-Panuma is a reindeer farm and the home of three families in the middle of the peaceful wilderness area. No less than seven generations have already been practicing reindeer husbandry at Poro-Panuma. Our farm is located in the Panuma village, which is one of the oldest villages of the southern reindeer husbandry area. In our farm you will get to know a lot about the traditional knowledge and skills of reindeer husbandry.

Kalajoki Booking Centre is a DMC office in Kalajoki tourism area with full tour operator rights. Packages for FITs and groups and leisure programs for families. Adventure Park Pakka is currently the largest adventure park in Scandinavia. It has various high ropes courses for different levels of adventurers and the tallest adventure tower in Europe, the X-Tower, with a 330m long zipline, a climbing wall and the possibility to try free fall! The area also hosts a beautiful disc golf course, running through the dunes and the forest, a very popular sport in Finland. The site also has a Lappish hut (kota) to gather and grill during cooler times. Besides the climbing activities, Pakka offers group activities either indoors or outdoors, such as archery tag and bubble football.

Steakhouse Pihvitupa is an attractive à la carte restaurant right at the heart of Sand Dunes of Kalajoki. It is well known for its delicious steaks meals and wines. The restaurant’s main house, built of an old school's logs carved 100 years ago, has 40 customer seats. Glass terrace with 90 customer seats is also available all year round.
