Discover Finland's sustainable capital region
We warmly invite you to get to know Finland's capital region Helsinki and Espoo on an info trip from 15 to 18 September 2023! You will meet representatives of the region and local providers and be presented with sustainable travel options in Helsinki and Espoo.
A combination of lively metropolis and maritime nature
Helsinki - multifaceted capital and pioneer of sustainable tourism
Helsinki is a modern city with functional design, unique gastronomy and maritime flair. The Finnish capital hosts lively events all year round, but the peaceful archipelago and green forests are just a stone's throw away and easily accessible with the efficient public transport system. Sustainable tourism has been developed in Finland's capital for many years. The city aims to be the world's leading sustainable tourism destination in 2026.
Espoo - small image of Finland and one of the most sustainable cities in Europe
Espoo in the south of Finland is easily accessible west of Helsinki. The versatile destination offers a great mix of nature, experiences, culture and innovations and can also be called a small image of Finland. In the south, you can experience the beautiful island world and an unspoilt coastline. The city's cultural life offers many different events and excellent shopping opportunities. Further north of the city, you will discover a completely different Espoo: lakes, quiet rural areas, historic manor houses and the wilderness of Nuuksio National Park. Together with the capital Helsinki and the neighbouring city Vantaa, Espoo forms the Helsinki Metropolitan Region, home to more than 1 million Finns. On its own, Espoo is the second largest city in Finland and one of the most sustainable cities in Europe.
