World Happiness Report 2022: All Nordic countries in the top ten

Finland tops the list of the World Happiness Report for the fifth time in a row and is once again the happiest country in the world. Second and third place go to Denmark and Iceland, and in general all Nordic countries are in the top ten (Sweden 7th, Norway 8th).

The high ranking of the Nordic countries is mainly attributed to the "strong social cohesion, excellent work-life balance and free education and healthcare".

Within the World Happiness Report, the effects of the Corona pandemic were noticeable. The restrictive measures allegedly dampened happiness levels around the world.

In particular, trust in one's government and in one's fellow human beings had a major impact on one's happiness during the pandemic. In countries where people trusted their governments and each other, there was a greater tendency to maintain or restore a sense of community to lead happier and healthier lives.
