Sweden's campsites are heading for an occupancy record

The number of overnight guest stays at campsites in Sweden increased by 5% to 3.4 million, according to the Statistics Agency. They indicate that August was the best month ever.

"With a new record in August, we see that 2022 will be another good year for Swedish tourism and Sweden's campsites. The international target groups have found their way back to us and are now providing growth after the pandemic years." Says Peter Jansson, acting managing director of SCR Swedish Camping.

This increase is due to increased interest from guests from Germany and the Netherlands, as well as Norwegian guests who have been allowed to travel again.

"Interest in camping and outdoor experiences continues to grow, and Sweden has a strong position in holiday planning, not least in Europe. Over the years we have worked with marketing on international markets on a long-term basis, not least as one of the main players in the Camping Key Europe loyalty card with 800,000 users in 20 countries." Peter Jansson summarizes.

The figures are preliminary, the final statistics will be published in April 2023.
