Hurtigruten Expeditions first cruise line with fast internet on board

Hurtigruten Expeditions guests can look forward to fast, reliable internet in the future. The installation of SpaceX's innovative Starlink broadband service on all ships makes it possible.

The testing and installation of the Starlink terminals on board the small expedition cruise ships began back in March. The installation will be completed by the end of October - making Hurtigruten Expeditions the first cruise line to introduce the high-speed, low-latency connection across its entire fleet.

According to Asta Lassesen, CEO, it is important for Hurtigruten Expeditions to stay ahead of not only the cruise industry, but also technology. As soon as Starlink enables maritime coverage of the Arctic and Antarctic, Hurtigruten Expeditions will be ready.

The crew also benefits from the internet connection

On all three ships exploring the Arctic this autumn, guests, crew and scientists will be the first to have the faster broadband service. Antarctica is scheduled to be covered by Starlink in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Hurtigruten Expeditions is one of the few major cruise lines to offer free internet access not only to guests but also to all crew members.
