The US Magazine TIME published their list of the 'world’s greatest places of 2024'.
The TIME Magazine has published their annual list of the world's greatest places. Norway is represented three times this year in the categories "places to stay" and "places to visit":
- Havila Polaris and Havila Pollux:
Two of Havila Kystruten's cruise ships have been added to the list. Havila Pollux and Havila Polaris are two of four identical cruise ships that carry travelers along the Norwegian coast. TIME emphasizes the ships' sustainable technology and the unique Norwegian gastronomy and experience offer.
- The Norwegian Michelin restaurant Iris in Rosendal also received an award. It is located inside the Salmon Eye in Hardangerfjord, the largest floating cultural installation in the world.
- Kunstsilo in Kristiansand: The grain silo on Odderøya in Kristiansand, built in 1935, was transformed into a powerhouse for art and culture and opened in May this year. The museum houses the Tangen Collection, the world's largest collection of Nordic modernism. It offers also international digital contemporary art, temporary exhibitions and an extended program of lectures, concerts, culinary experiences, workshops, venues and events.
Sweden is also mentioned in the list:
- VYN, Simrishamn, Sweden: Daniel Berlin opened a new restaurant in a former farmhouse-cum-boutique-inn. VYN, , meaning view, has 15 elegant rooms and suites overlooking the Baltic sea. Mother Nature dictates the seasonal menu for the roughly 16-course menu. Vyn Vyn is a place to come and breath. Reservations are released three times a year; the winter session opens in August for booking.
To compile the 2024 list, TIME collected suggestions from its international network of correspondents and contributors, as well as through an application process, for places such as hotels, cruises, restaurants, attractions, museums, parks and more that offer new and exciting experiences. The 2023 list included 50 cities, this year the focus was expanded to include establishments that stand out in their field and in the world. The result is 100 extraordinary destinations you should visit and see.
