Rovaniemi, Helsinki and Copenhagen are among the most scenic destinations for road trips

DiscoverCars.com has identified the top 10 most scenic destinations from the reviews of 150,000 travellers from all parts of the world. In second place is Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland, the Finnish capital Helsinki follows in sixth place and also in the top 10 in seventh place is the Danish capital Copenhagen.

Rovaniemi, the capital of the province of Lapland and official hometown of Santa Claus, received an impressive score of 9,3 out of 10. The city centre is located a few kilometres below the Arctic Circle, nestled between the Ounasvaara and Korkalovaara hills and offers unique views - including the Northern Lights.

Meanwhile, the Finnish capital Helsinki impresses with its itineraries to day trip destinations. The historic coastal town of Porvoo with its thriving restaurant scene, for example, is just 50 km from Helsinki. A longer three-hour drive takes you to the Puumala area in the Saimaa Lake District. The panoramic Lietvedentie road is one of the most photographed landscapes in Finland.

Copenhagen, the cultural centre of Denmark, is home to some of the most scenic routes. The bridge to Odense is the sixth longest bridge in the world. It is also home to the impressive Egeskov Castle, which seems to float in the middle of a lake. Adventure-seekers will get their money's worth on the Marguerite Route, which circles the whole of Denmark (4 000 km).
