Tallink Silja does not resume operations between Riga and Stockholm until June

Tallink Grupp has announced that the reopening of the Riga-Stockholm route will be postponed until 3 June 2022. Operations on the route had been paused for two years due to the COVID pandemic and were originally scheduled to resume on 6 April.

Low bookings by passengers in April and May have led the company to the decision to postpone the reopening. The low demand is due to the current geopolitical uncertainties and the sharp increase in fuel prices. Therefore, it is currently not possible to operate the route between the two capitals, Riga and Stockholm profitably. The war in Ukraine has caused the company to re-evaluate its plans and forced it to take the difficult decision to postpone the reopening of the route for a few months in the hope that the situation will have changed by the beginning of the summer.

All passengers who have already booked a trip on the Isabelle in April and May will be offered alternative travel options or cancellation by Tallink Grupp.
