Strawberry's newest gem in Turku is set to redefine hospitality and events in Finland

In a landmark move, Strawberry plans to expand its presence in the Finnish market by opening a state-of-the-art, full-service hotel in Turku, Finland. The hotel is scheduled to open in the fall of 2028 and will be a key part of one of Finland's most ambitious development projects - the Ratapiha Arena, located in the center of Turku.

The Ratapiha Arena project

The Ratapiha Arena project, with an impressive investment of almost 370 million euros, aims to create a modern, world-class event arena as well as a vibrant urban landscape with stores, restaurants, offices, apartments and hotels.

Through an agreement with owner Turun Ratapihan Kehitys Oy, Strawberry will manage the hotel operations within the arena. Petter Stordalen, the owner of Strawberry, expressed his enthusiasm for the project: "We have had our eye on Turku for a long time and are therefore extremely happy that an opportunity has arisen. It is a great opportunity to open a hotel in one of Finland's most exciting urban development areas and to contribute with our know-how and experience to urban development and the creation of attractive areas."

Revolutionary changes in Turku's hotel industry

The upcoming hotel will revolutionize the hospitality industry in Turku, with 249 rooms and 1000 square meters of meeting facilities. It is positioning itself as a key player in major congresses and events in the region. In addition, a first-class restaurant experience and a sky bar with an adjoining terrace on the 12th floor will offer locals and visitors a breathtaking view of the city.

Erika Ehrnrooth, COO of Strawberry Finland, expressed her excitement about this milestone: "It feels incredibly good that historic and trendy Turku will be the next big and important step in Strawberry's expansion in Finland. With this fantastic meeting and event hotel, we are complementing and enriching the city's hotel market while giving an indication that the journey Strawberry has started in Finland is only just beginning."

Construction is scheduled to start in 2025, with the grand opening at the end of 2028. The 20-year lease agreement between Turku Ratapihan Kehitys Oy and Strawberry underlines the long-term commitment to providing an international service concept and promoting the thriving development of the city. Ilkka Kilpimaa, Chairman of the Board of Turku Ratapihan Kehitys Oy, expressed his satisfaction with the partnership: "The hotel will provide an international service concept for Ratapiha and enable the expansion of the city center and the development of the region. Of course, the hotel will also serve Logomo and other operators in the area and enrich the diversity of the city's hotel offer."
