Many foreign overnight stays at campsites, fewer in hotels

In June 2022, Norway recorded the highest number of overnight stays ever recorded in the month of June. The statistics authority SSB announced that 4.5 million overnight stays were registered in June, of which 1.4 million were foreign overnight stays. The figures suggest a good summer for tourism in Norway.

In first place in the accommodation statistics for foreigners is Germany with 440,000 overnight stays, followed by the Netherlands with 180,000. Compared to the same period last year, foreign overnight stays increased by 1.3 million, but were 7.2 per cent below the numbers for 2019.

“There were more foreign overnight stays in campsites, cottage villages and hostels in June this year than in 2019, but fewer foreign overnight stays in hotels,” says Boyd Oyier from SSB.

More on the figures.
