Sweden's new Holocaust Museum opens in Stockholm

The new Swedish Holocaust Museum in central Stockholm opened its doors for the first time on 21 June. The museum's first exhibition, Seven Lives, opened at the same time.

The exhibition focuses on the stories of seven people who came to Sweden and survived the Holocaust. Visitors can expect archives, guided tours and interactive biographies in addition to the exhibition. The collection includes personal testimonies and original objects, letters and photos. The seven life stories provide background information about the Holocaust and Sweden's behaviour during the Second World War.

The Swedish Holocaust Museum was officially established on 1 July 2022 and is part of the state authorities National Historical Museums. It cooperates with both Swedish and international actors. The museum's mission is to preserve and pass on the memory of the Holocaust. The museum aims to deepen and develop knowledge about the Holocaust on a national level.
