Norway and Sweden are safe destinations for women travelling alone.

According to a recent study by Bounce, Norway and Sweden are among the safest destinations for female solo travelers in 2023. The study looked at countries around the world for factors such as attitudes towards violence against women, women's sense of safety when travelling alone at night, and general equality indicators.

Norway

Norway secures second place on the list of safest countries for women travelling alone in 2023, with an impressive overall safety score of 7.41 out of 10. This score reflects the country's commitment to ensuring women's safety in a number of areas. Women in Norway feel exceptionally safe when walking alone at night, with 83% confident in their safety.

The homicide rate for women in Norway is remarkably low at only 0.6 per 100,000 women, which contributes to the high level of safety.
The country also boasts a remarkable Global Gender Gap Index score of 0.879 out of 1, indicating a strong commitment to gender equality.

Oslo, the capital of Norway, is known for being a remarkably safe city with low crime rates, making it a great destination for female solo travelers.

Sweden

Sweden ranks as the tenth safest country for women travelling alone, with an overall safety score of 5.94 out of 10. While not the top country, Sweden still offers a safe environment for women travelling alone. Women in Sweden generally feel safe when travelling alone at night, with a confidence rating of 64%.

The country has a relatively low homicide rate of 0.5 per 100,000 women, indicating a commitment to women's safety. Sweden also scores 0.815 out of 1 on the Global Gender Gap Index, indicating efforts to promote gender equality.

While Sweden is a safe destination, it does not score as well as Norway in terms of overall safety for women travelling alone.

These rankings provide valuable insights into the safety of women travelling alone in Norway and Sweden, making them attractive options for those seeking safe and welcoming destinations.
