Oldest passenger ship with overnight accommodation celebrates an impressive anniversary on the Swedish waterway

The world's oldest passenger ship with overnight accommodation, the Juno, is celebrating its 150th anniversary. Launched in 1874, the Juno has been sailing on the Göta Canal between Gothenburg and Stockholm for the Swedish shipping company Göta Kanal ever since.

The company announces that the Juno is fit for the 2024 season and has retained its charm as a listed ship despite its age. Fredrik Duveskog, Managing Director, emphasizes the uniqueness of the historic canal ships and their special atmosphere for guests.

In addition to the Juno, the shipping company also operates the historic steamships Diana and Wilhelm Tham, which also traverse the 87-kilometre-long canal, passing through the landscapes of southern Sweden, impressive lock staircases and sights such as Karlsborg Fortress and the Viking town of Birka. Interested parties can book tours of two to six days.
