The regional routes in Finland will be flown by Finnair in future

Finnair has won the tender for all four state-subsidised regional routes Helsinki - Joensuu, Helsinki - Jyväskylä, Helsinki - Kajaani and Helsinki - Kokkola-Pietarsaari - Kemi-Tornio. The contract was awarded by the Finnish Transport and Communications Authority Traficom.

The service is scheduled to start on 31 October 2022. The contract is limited in time and will last until 30 July 2023. The contracts were awarded on the basis of a price comparison between all participants that met the requirements set out in the tender.

Finnair, the Finnish airline, will operate up to two return flights per weekday on the direct routes and the three triangular flights. The flights to Jyväskylä will end earlier than others, on 23 June 2023. Finnair will compensate for the shorter period by offering a slightly higher standard of service in the form of one additional flight per week.
