Sustainable pioneers and ambassadors of happiness - Finland among the nominees

The editorial team at Columbus Travel has proudly announced the nominees for the Columbus Travel Awards, also known as the Oscars of the travel world. The purpose of these awards is to recognise exceptional initiatives and personalities in the travel industry and showcase them to a wider audience.

For each award category, the editorial team has selected three nominees who follow the "Break-even Travel" principles for sustainable travel and ask themselves a simple question: How does the nominee contribute to making the world a better place for travelers and the local community? The lucky winners of the Columbus Travel Awards will be announced during a festive awards ceremony in Amsterdam on Wednesday 22 November.

Finland: A sustainable paradise and lucky charm

Finland occupies a special position here. The country once again tops the list of the world's most sustainable countries in the Sustainable Development Report, based on 17 goals. In addition, Finland can call itself the happiest country in the world for the sixth time in a row. In other words, a sustainable lifestyle is the secret to a happy life. The good news is that anyone can discover their inner Finn - with the help of an online happiness masterclass organised by Visit Finland. This brilliant campaign illustrates in an original and accessible way how happiness and a sustainable lifestyle go hand in hand.

22 November will show whether Finland can beat Peru and France.
