Norway's government wants to allow zero-emission city buses as early as 2024
New city buses in Norway are to be emission-free before the end of next year. The Norwegian Road Administration "Statens vegvesen" is to submit proposals on the requirements.
The original plan was for new purchases to be emission-free from 2025. The acceleration of the process should lead to emission reductions and encourage further technology development.
Two out of three newly purchased city buses were electric in 2022. Around eleven percent of city buses currently run on electricity. This share is to be increased as quickly as possible.
