Architects from Helsinki bring fresh perspectives to the picturesque retreat of Pikku-Syöte

Two architects from the capital region have been enchanted by the natural beauty of Pudasjärvi and have acquired a hotel with its business activities. The transaction, which was completed on January 13, 2024, involves the transfer of the business activities and real estate of Pikku-Syöte, next to Iso-Syöte the southernmost fell in Finland, to Pikku-Syöte Oy.

The business activities of Youth and Leisure Center Pikku-Syöte Oy are now under the management of new entrepreneurs. Jemina Valli and Jere Toivonen, both architects from the capital region, take up their positions as part owners of Pikku-Syöte Oy. Having moved from the capital region, these entrepreneurs see considerable potential in the natural environment and tourism activities of Pikku-Syöte and are looking forward to starting their entrepreneurial activities.

The decision to purchase was solidified after the buyers' visit in December. The new owners are optimistic that the activities in Pikku-Syöte will get off to a quick start. The aim is to open the resort for the ski vacations in February. Long-term development plans will be finalized in the spring and summer, Valli reveals.

Behind the scenes, the other new owners are shareholders in the family business Valli Group, and six employees will seamlessly transfer to the new company. Esa Valli, the Chairman of the Board of Valli Group Oy, owns Hotel Käenpesä in Ylivieska together with his children and, together with his wife Raija Eskola-Valli, the Pohjankievari, Kajaani and Rantakallan hotels in Kempele.

In the past, the hotel Pikku-Syöte and the ski resort were run by Vuolle Setlementti ry. In addition to accommodation, slope and restaurant operations, the organization also operated youth centers. The Ministry of Education and Culture regulated its activities, emphasizing a primary focus on youth centers. Vuolle Setlementti ry initiated the sale of the hotel in October 2023.

Hotel Pikku-Syöte has 82 hotel rooms and space for 240 people. The restaurant offers space for 220 guests, with a total usable area of around 6560 square meters.

The ski area has four anchor lifts and eight slopes with an impressive difference in altitude of 130 meters and the longest slope of 1100 meters.
