Scandic is strengthening presence in one of Europe’s most dynamic cities
Scandic Hotels Group continues its strategic expansion in Germany with plans for a third hotel in central Hamburg. The new property will be part of the major redevelopment around Hamburg’s central train station, transforming the area into a lively district of offices, restaurants, event spaces and hotels.
The new Scandic hotel will feature up to 328 rooms and is scheduled to open in 2028. The project forms part of Scandic’s long-term goal to add around 15,000 rooms to its portfolio by 2030, with a focus on key destinations in Germany and the Nordics.
Central location and modern connectivity
The hotel will offer direct access to Hamburg’s main bus terminal as well as several subway and commuter train lines, making it ideal for both business and leisure travelers.
The project is being developed in partnership with B&L Group, which will construct the building and also owns the property housing Scandic Hafenpark. Together, they are creating a hotel that combines sustainable redevelopment with modern design and comfort.
Expanding Scandic’s footprint in Hamburg
The new hotel will complement Scandic’s existing 340-room Scandic Emporio and the 430-room Scandic near Berliner Tor, set to open in 2030.
With over 16 million overnight stays per year and a thriving mix of business and leisure visitors, Hamburg remains one of Germany’s most attractive hotel markets.
