Original Sokos Hotel Talsinki is scheduled to open in early 2029 with 222 rooms
Tallinn's waterfront continues to evolve. Sokotel has announced plans for a new Original Sokos Hotel in the Talsinki district, currently being developed between the city centre and the waterfront.
Original Sokos Hotel Talsinki is expected to welcome its first guests in early 2029.
Its location is particularly notable for international visitors: the hotel will be close to Tallinn's passenger harbour and only a short walk from the Rotermann Quarter.
222 rooms in a new waterfront district
Plans include 222 rooms, a bar and terrace, two meeting rooms and a breakfast restaurant. Guests will also have access to gym and spa facilities within the wider Talsinki development.
The hotel is part of a larger mixed-use district combining accommodation, residential buildings, offices, restaurants, wellness services and public urban spaces.
The concept also draws on the connection between Finland and Estonia. Sokotel already has a long presence in the city through Original Sokos Hotel Viru, which it has operated for more than 20 years.
Tallinn continues to reconnect with its waterfront
For the travel trade, the wider location may ultimately prove as relevant as the hotel itself.
The development adds accommodation close to one of the city's major international gateways while maintaining easy access to central Tallinn. This could make the property particularly relevant for city breaks, Baltic itineraries and programmes combining Estonia and Finland.
With the opening scheduled for 2029, the hotel is not yet an immediate consideration for contracting. It does, however, provide another indication of how Tallinn's tourism infrastructure is developing around its waterfront.
