The German hotel brand Ruby will open its first property in Finland in early 2028
Ruby is adding a new centrally located accommodation option to Helsinki’s future city-break offering.
Hotel brand Ruby is planning its first property in Finland. The new hotel is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2028 at Lapinlahdenkatu 3 in Helsinki’s Kamppi district.
The property will feature 84 rooms as well as shared spaces on the ground floor. The project is being developed together with real estate partner Union Investment.
Central location in a historic building
The hotel will be located in a historic 19th-century building that was previously used as office space. Key architectural features are expected to be retained during the conversion.
In addition to the guest rooms, the property will include communal areas and a 24-hour bar and café.
Its location in Kamppi places the hotel close to Helsinki city centre and major transport connections, making it potentially relevant for future international city programmes.
Ruby’s “Lean Luxury” concept
Ruby was founded in Munich in 2013 and is known for its Lean Luxury concept. The model combines central locations and design-focused interiors with digital services and a streamlined service approach.
Following the acquisition of the Ruby brand by IHG Hotels & Resorts in 2025, Ruby became part of IHG’s international brand portfolio. The Helsinki property will join the group’s premium hotel offering.
More choice for future Helsinki programmes
Although the opening is still some way off, the entry of another international hotel brand is relevant for tour operators looking ahead to future Helsinki products.
The property will add another centrally located accommodation option for city breaks, round trips beginning or ending in Helsinki, and programmes combining the capital with other Finnish destinations.
