Opening of the new Scandic Oceanhamnen in Helsingborg on the Öresund strait in Sweden

On 23 May, the Scandic Oceanhamnen became Helsingborg's new landmark. The Scandic Oceanhamnen is conveniently located at the end of the pier in the new, climate-friendly Oceanhamnen district, which is home to a fast-growing residential and business area just a few steps from the city centre.

In addition to the 184 rooms on 13 floors of the hotel, there is a relaxation area and a rooftop terrace. Directly on the water, it offers a spectacular view of the resund. This hotel features Studio Ocean, a glassed-in room on the roof terrace, an idyllic location for meetings or private events. Scandinavian Oceanhamnen was designed in accordance with the Sweden Green Building Council Gold Standard and is certified with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, the official environmental label of the Nordic countries.

Sustainability as a central aspect of the hotel

Scandic Oceanhamnen places a high priority on sustainability, reflected in the ecological thinking in the construction of the building and the use of recycled materials in several parts of the interior design, including the public areas and hotel rooms. In addition to the three-pipe system for food waste, toilet’s waste and shower water, the hotel also has a system for laundry waste water. Water from the area is transported directly to a sewage treatment plant where it is used to produce biofuel and nutrients for plants. To minimize food waste, the restaurant uses locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. The dishes on the menu are available in half and whole portions. In addition to the menu indicating the impact of each dish on the environment, all of the hotel's wines and beers are organic.
