Veidekke chosen to build Norway’s first Hoxton property next to the new government quarter

A new addition to Oslo’s skyline is on the way. Construction company Veidekke has been commissioned by Møller Eiendom and AB Invest (Buchardt) to build a Hoxton Hotel near the government quarter in central Oslo. The project, valued at NOK 350 million (excl. VAT), is set to become Norway’s first Hoxton property, expanding the boutique hotel brand’s footprint across Europe.

A new urban landmark

Designed as a 9-storey hotel with two underground floors, the future Hoxton Oslo will feature:

  • 152 rooms
  • Restaurants and bars
  • Meeting spaces and a gym
  • Outdoor areas opening toward the planned government park

In total, the building will cover 8,000 m², combining Hoxton’s signature industrial-chic style with Norwegian architectural precision.

Collaboration at the core

“We are proud to be chosen for this project, which brings a unique concept to Oslo. Both the design and location make it a valuable addition to the city,” says Morten Barreth, Head of Department at Veidekke Bygg Oslo. According to Gunnar Oveland, Project Developer at AB Invest, the collaboration between all partners is already running smoothly: “The Hoxton Oslo is an ambitious project that will add a new and vibrant meeting point to the city – and with Veidekke on board, we have great faith in realizing this vision.”

Timeline and outlook

Construction will begin within weeks, with completion and handover planned for autumn 2027. The project will be included in Veidekke’s Q4 2025 order backlog. Once finished, the Hoxton Oslo will join a global family of stylish city hotels in London, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, and Los Angeles – bringing a new international design dimension to Norway’s capital.
