airBaltic launches direct service with five weekly flights
Starting March 29, 2026, Latvian airline airBaltic will operate direct flights between Oulu, Finland and Riga, Latvia. The service will run until the end of October 2026 with five weekly frequencies—on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays—using a 148-seat Airbus A220-300 aircraft.
Expanded travel opportunities from Oulu
With Riga Airport as a hub, passengers gain access to a broad network of connections across Europe and the Middle East. For business travelers and companies in Northern Finland, the route enhances accessibility and opens doors to new international opportunities.
Boost for tourism in Northern Finland
The connection also strengthens inbound tourism by making Oulu and its surroundings easier to reach. This is particularly significant as Oulu takes the spotlight in 2026 as the European Capital of Culture, drawing international visitors and attention.
“At Finavia, we continuously strive to improve Finland’s connectivity. airBaltic’s new route is a strong contribution toward that goal,” says Petri Vuori, Senior Vice President of Sales and Route Development at Finavia.
airBaltic also operates scheduled services from Helsinki, Tampere, and Turku.
