Finnair aims to reduce climate emissions with sustainable jet fuel

Finnair is teaming up with Neste in the fight for climate protection. The world's largest producer of sustainable aviation fuel will significantly increase the amount of sustainable fuel used by Finnair and help the airline achieve its goal of carbon neutrality. Through the collaboration, Neste itself hopes to achieve its own climate goals by reducing CO2 emissions from its employees traveling on business.

Increasing consumption at Finnair will also increase the production of renewable kerosene in Finland in the long term, making sustainable fuel more affordable in the future. By the end of 2025, the Finnish airline plans to spend around ten million euros annually on sustainable aviation fuel. Compared to fossil fuels, renewable kerosene reduces emissions by 80%.

Customers of the airline will be offered the opportunity to support the use of sustainable fuel through integrated ticketing solutions later this year. In addition, Finnair is reducing the carbon footprint of its own employees' business travel. Airport operator Finavia is also encouraged to reduce its own climate emissions through sustainable fuel.
