Iso-Syöte builds the Iso-Syöte Express chairlift

A milestone for winter sports enthusiasts and nature lovers: Iso-Syöte welcomes a state-of-the-art chairlift in the coming winter season 25/26.

The new chairlift, called Iso-Syöte Express, impresses with features that will delight skiers, cyclists and hikers alike. The 1000 m long lift line with a height difference of 190 m promises a quick ride from the bottom to the top of Iso-Syöte in just over three minutes. An average gradient of 19.3% makes for an exciting ascent for winter sports enthusiasts.

The Iso-Syöte Express will not only cater to winter sports enthusiasts, but will also provide breathtaking rides for cyclists and pedestrians outside the traditional ski season.

Local visionaries at the forefront

The entrepreneurial Terentjeff siblings, longtime members of Iso-Syöte Ski Resort since the early 2000s, have driven the vision for Iso-Syöte Express. The project gained momentum during the generational change in 2020 and fits perfectly with a renewed strategy focused on year-round activities and customer satisfaction. The development of Iso-Syöte Express was a painstaking process that took almost three years. The project received significant support from the Center for Economic Development, Transport and Environment in Northern Ostrobothnia, which underlines the joint efforts to realize this innovative chairlift. Despite challenges from tight financial negotiations and external factors such as the global pandemic and geopolitical events, the commitment of the project's backers, including Danske Bank, ELY-keskus and Finnvera, remained steadfast.

Growth promotion in Iso-Syöte

The Terentjeff siblings are convinced that Iso-Syöte Express will not only enrich the winter experience, but can also drive further development in the region. "The recently completed master plan for Syöte had many feasible ideas. With the growing interest in the region, we certainly expect several larger projects to be realized in the coming years," emphasizes Mikko Terentjeff.

The basic work for Iso-Syöte Express will begin in summer 2024, and construction of the lift and stations is planned for early summer 2025. Completion is planned for fall 2025 to welcome winter enthusiasts in time for the 25/26 season.
