400 travel agents invited to experience HX voyages during anniversary journey to Helgoland

To mark its 130th anniversary, HX Expeditions is organising an unprecedented familiarisation trip for the travel trade. In May 2026, the company will host the largest FAM trip ever held in expedition cruising.

From 5 to 7 May 2026, around 400 travel agency partners from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and the UK will take part in a two-day training voyage from Hamburg to Helgoland. The journey will be hosted on board the Fridtjof Nansen, one of HX’s most advanced expedition vessels.

Bringing the HX experience to life

The program is designed to convey the core elements of an HX expedition. Participants will experience shore landings, nature observations, scientific workshops, expert talks and culturally inspired moments on board. Sustainability and research play a central role. Travel agents will gain insight into the type of scientific work typically carried out on HX vessels and take part in hands-on activities at sea.

Learning through place and purpose

Helgoland’s natural environment and cultural heritage are integrated into both the onboard and shore-based program. A special highlight is the “1896 Cabin”, a limited-time anniversary installation available exclusively on board the Fridtjof Nansen throughout 2026.

Celebrating long-term partnerships

For HX Expeditions, the FAM trip is also a way to recognize the importance of strong trade relationships. “Our 130-year anniversary felt like the perfect moment to thank our partners for their continued support,” says Kimberly Setzermann, Sales Director DACH. “By inviting them to Helgoland, we offer an authentic insight into how we travel and what truly defines HX.”
