Strawberry expands to Copenhagen

Strawberry brings Hobo to Copenhagen. Pandox owns the building that will house the new Hobo in Copenhagen. Today, the building houses Hotel Mayfair, located in the heart of Copenhagen and surrounded by historical and cultural attractions such as Tivoli, City Hall, Strøget and the Glyptotek.

Pandox has owned the hotel property since 2010 and has operated the hotel itself since April 2020. The hotel has 203 rooms. Hobo Copenhagen will join the portfolio of Nordic Hotels & Resorts, which is part of Strawberry and operates more than 40 independent hotels in the Nordic region, including Villa Copenhagen in Copenhagen and soon the Admiral Hotel in the same city.

The urban and rebellious concept, known more for pop-up clubs and local microbrewery beers than concierge and fine dining, has achieved great success in Stockholm. The hotel's unique design was developed in collaboration with award-winning Studio Aisslinger in Berlin.

"The beauty of the Hobo concept is that there is no template for how Hobo should be or what it should be. The concept should constantly evolve and reflect how the city is developing. At the same time, Hobo should always retain its core: redefining what a hotel can and should be. The investment we are now making in Hobo in different capitals will provide cities with new, vibrant meeting places for guests who live just around the corner and for those who come from the other side of the world," says Petter A. Stordalen, owner of Strawberry.

"It is great news for us at Nordic Hotels & Resorts that we are finally opening in the Royal City. Hobo Stockholm has been a great success from the start and now we are expanding Hobo in Helsinki and Oslo - both with prime locations and in fantastic buildings in the capital cities. Hobo will conquer the Nordic region and we know the concept will be well received by both the cities' residents and travellers," says Henrik Berghult, Chief Operating Officer at Nordic Hotels & Resorts.
