Air traffic in Finland recovers in second half of 2021

A total of 5.4 million people travelled through Finavia's airports in 2021. Current statistics show that air traffic recovered significantly in the second half of the year. In December, Finavia counted one million passengers, a record for the entire pandemic period.

The highest passenger volumes were recorded on routes to Germany, Sweden and Spain. The number of passengers at Helsinki Airport was 4.3 million, 80% of them on international flights.

December was particularly successful. Lapland's airports achieved an excellent Christmas season. The number of incoming charter flights was 690, which is even six per cent more than before the pandemic in 2019. Especially at Kittilä and Kuusamo airports, the number of tourist flights increased.
