Finavia offers more international connections than ever before

The 2025 summer flight schedule marks a historic milestone for Finavia, the operator of Finland’s airports: for the first time in its history, Finnish airports are offering the widest selection of international routes to date. With over 130 direct destinations worldwide, including numerous connections across Europe, Asia, and North America, air traffic in Finland is not only recovering—but also expanding.

Helsinki remains the key international hub

At Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, Finland’s largest aviation hub, more than 70 airlines will serve over 100 international destinations during summer 2025. While the majority of flights will go to European cities, there is also steady growth in long-haul routes to Asia and North America. Helsinki’s strong connectivity makes it a highly attractive transfer airport, not only for visitors to Finland but also for passengers traveling between East and West.

Regional airports expand their reach

Regional airports across Lapland and other Finnish regions are also benefitting from the growing demand. Rovaniemi, Kittilä, Ivalo, Kuusamo, and Tampere are among the airports with a notable increase in international flights. This trend highlights the rising significance of regional destinations in global tourism, especially during the summer season when Finland attracts visitors with its nature, outdoor activities, and cool climate.

Finavia sees the expanded summer flight schedule as a crucial part of Finland’s post-pandemic aviation strategy, with a strong focus on reliable connections, high-quality passenger services, and the sustainable development of the route network. “We’re pleased to offer such a wide range of international flights for summer 2025,” the company stated.

With its ambitious 2025 summer flight schedule, Finnish airports are entering a new phase of international travel growth. Tour operators, airlines, and the broader tourism industry will benefit from the enhanced accessibility, helping position Finland as a sustainable and nature-focused destination with global appeal.
