Gradual lifting of Corona measures planned in Finland
Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin declared on 31 January her willingness to lift all Corona restrictions in the country during February. As a result, the governing parties agreed on the gradual easing of restrictions on 2 February.
Since 1 February, establishments that mainly offer food, such as restaurants, are already allowed to stay open until 9 pm. Similarly, since 1 February, there are no longer any entry restrictions for travellers from EU member states and countries in the Schengen area. Irrespective of this, however, health checks are carried out upon entry.
As of 14 February, restrictions on culture, sports and events are to be lifted completely and further easing for restaurants and bars. In parallel, the Finnish government is monitoring developments in Denmark, Sweden and Norway, which had already announced (partial) lifting of Corona restrictions, until 14 February. Final restrictions are to be lifted on 1 March, according to the Finnish news channel Yle.
