Restrictions on entry extended until 9 February

Due to the current situation, the Finnish government has decided to extend the entry restrictions until 9 February 2021. The COVID-19 epidemic is still clearly growing globally, and the number of infections is increasing in most countries more sharply than in Finland. The Finnish government therefore sees no reason to ease the current restrictions until the new health security measures under preparation have been made sufficiently available.

This means that travelling to Finland as a tourist is still not permitted. Entry via internal borders is only possible in exceptional situations, such as return travel to Finland, work-related travel or travel for other essential reasons.

Finland tests all arriving passengers at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport

Since Friday, all arriving passengers from abroad are tested at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. The Finnish government wants to prevent the new Corona mutation from spreading in Finland.

The decision was made after a recommendation by the National Institute for Health and Public Welfare (THL) on Thursday. Within 24 hours, the city of Vantaa as well as the airport operator Finavia took all necessary measures. Finavia, for example, built new testing points in the terminal and transferred the current points from the arrivals halls to the gate area. Currently, about 1,500 to 2,500 international passengers arrive at Helsinki Airport every day.
