Finavia invests in modernisation of Savonlinna Airport runway

Summer 2022: Runway at Savonlinna Airport to be improved

The airport company Finavia will invest around €3 million in the renovation of the runway at Savonlinna Airport. The objective is to prolong the operating time of the runway and improve the airport's energy efficiency. The work will be carried out between 2 May and 24 June 2022. During this time, the airport will not be available for passenger traffic or leisure aviation. 

Beside the runway renewal, also the taxiway will be resurfaced, the safety zones on the runway will be extended, the apron will be renovated and the runway lighting system will be replaced. The runway was last renovated in 2005. The reconstruction will contribute to maintaining the conditions for flight operations.
