A year of diverse cultural experiences in Estonia

Tartu 2024 will be Estonia's premier event next year, offering a wide range of cultural activities, exhibitions, festivals and more. As part of the European Capital of Culture initiative, it aims to attract visitors to explore the city and the South Estonian region, while highlighting local and international culture.

Tartu, Estonia's second largest city known for its prestigious university and innovative businesses, will take centre stage. The programme, themed "Arts of Survival", focuses on sustainability, co-creation and local uniqueness.

Highlights of the more than 1,000 events and 350 projects in 2024 include contemporary art exhibitions, surrealist exhibitions, architectural tours and unique cultural experiences. The grand opening will take place on 26 January 2024 with the "All Becomes One" spectacle on the banks of the Emajõgi River. The event expresses the interconnectedness of the people.

The diverse program celebrates Estonian culture, sauna traditions and much more, making Tartu 2024 a year of cultural discoveries in Estonia.
