Drone sightings disrupt air traffic at Copenhagen and Oslo Airports

Flight operations suspended in both capitals, raising aviation security concerns

On Monday evening, Denmark’s largest airport halted all arrivals and departures after confirmed sightings of two to three large drones near the runway. Operations stopped at 20:26 local time, forcing around 50 flights to divert to alternate airports. The airport reopened early Tuesday morning.

Oslo Airport also affected

Norwegian police reported a drone sighting near Oslo Airport around midnight, leading to a temporary airspace closure and the diversion of all scheduled flights.

The incidents in Copenhagen and Oslo highlight the growing risks posed by unauthorized drones near critical infrastructure. As Copenhagen serves as a major hub in Northern Europe, any extended closure has the potential to severely impact international connections.
