Scandlines puts additional ferry into operation between Rostock and Gedser

High passenger numbers to and from Scandinavia have prompted Scandlines to operate an additional ferry between Rostock and Gedser during the peak season.

On the Rostock-Gedser route, the number of passengers and cars increased by 13.1% in the first half of the year. The cargo ferry "Kronprins Frederik" will therefore operate on this route on Saturdays to complement the two hybrid ships "Berlin" and "Copenhagen".

From Monday to Friday, the cargo ferry will operate the route between Puttgarden and Rødby in Denmark.

Dr Gernot Tesch, Managing Director of Rostock Port GmbH, is pleased about the positive development: "Every increase in frequency and capacity increases the attractiveness of Rostock as a ferry location. Increasing frequencies is the right way to compete with other transport corridors. A highly efficient Rostock-Gedser ferry connection will continue to be the shortest and cheapest way to link the metropolitan regions of Berlin and Copenhagen in the future."
