Finavia handled around 15.4 million passengers last year

According to Finavia's latest statistics, around 15.4 million passengers were handled at the airports in 2022. A new record was set for Christmas flights to Lapland, and Helsinki Airport's European flights recovered.

According to Finavia, Finland had 130 direct destinations around the world in 2022, but the number of passengers has increased mainly on European flights. Of the 15.4 million passengers, 78% travelled on an international flight and 22% on a domestic flight. The number of passengers increased by 187% compared to the previous year. The most popular destinations from Finavia's airports were Stockholm, London, Amsterdam, Paris and Copenhagen. Of all international flights, flights to Germany, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom and France accounted for the most passengers.

12.9 million passengers at Helsinki Airport

Helsinki Airport counted a total of 12.9 million passengers in 2022, of which 87% were international and 13% domestic. Connections to Europe and the United States made an excellent recovery.

New record for the airports in Lapland

A total of 364,834 passengers travelled through Rovaniemi, Kittilä, Ivalo, Kuusamo and Kemi-Tornio airports in December 2022. At Rovaniemi Airport alone, the number of Christmas passengers increased by 40% (158,757 passengers) and at Kittilä Airport by 13% (101,868). 1.2 million passengers travelled through Lapland's airports, an increase of 93% compared to the previous year.
