Visit Iceland launches interactive tourism map

Visit Iceland has created an interactive map that allows travellers to customise their itineraries, restaurant visits and activities at the click of a mouse. Not only are locations shown on the map for the services listed, but photos and contact details are also available.

Users of the map have the option to try out the service for the entire country as well as for specific regions. Once users have created their preferred itinerary, they can view it, customise it as they wish and share it with their friends and family.

Apart from customised route planning, travellers exploring Iceland can draw inspiration for their day from a list of activities such as hiking, mountain biking or horseback riding.

The map also lists pubs and nightclubs in the country. Under the culture filter, those interested can find a compilation of cultural centres, museums, galleries and theatres. The map can also be used to search for accommodation. Under the corresponding tab, users can select different types of accommodation such as holiday flats, hotels, hostels, bed & breakfasts or campsites.

The map can also be used for transport options. For example, companies offering bus tours or ferry connections are listed here. If travellers are travelling with a rental car, they have the option under this tab to find petrol stations or e-charging stations along their planned route.
